Uruguayan-born Brazilian, Bandini is a kind of modern Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde; an energy economist by profession, photography became his vocation since 1997 and soon after he began to explore the panoramic format. He has participated in several collective exhibitions, such as the Montevideo Urban Intervention Festival 2016, the Dutch GRID Bi-annual international photography festival (2012), the National Salons of Visual Arts of 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2008, the Salto Biennale (2011), the ABC Treehouse Gallery in Amsterdam (2005) and the Cervantes Institute of Utrecht (2005). In 1998 he obtained a Special Mention in the competition “Large Eyes Women” organized by “Mujerahora”. In 2000 he was co-awarded First Prize in the Posdata magazine Photographic Essay Award with his essay «tabula rasa». He held «arboris», his first solo exhibition, at the Engelman-Ost Collection in 2001. In 2002 he received a First Prize in the plastic arts competition of the Uruguay Professional Pension Fund. «amarillo», shown in 2003 at the Zorrilla Museum of Montevideo, was his second solo exhibition. In 2005 he presented «2002», his third solo project, at the National History Museum of Uruguay and at the ArtexArte Gallery in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His works can be found in public and private collections in Uruguay, Colombia, England, Israel, Turkey and Hong Kong. For the last seven years he has being working on “the Airman project”, a project done on board using smartphones, and “insensatez”, a project developed at hotel rooms check in-check out times, using 35mm film format. He is currently working on small format using Moleskine notebooks.
Besides photography (in particular, Düsseldorf and Japanese photography), he spends his life on Brazilian art, Japandi style, classical music, Tom Waits’ music and Charles Bukowski’s poetry, Wim Wenders’ films, salsa and other Latin American delights, vintage cycling, English humour, and….fine coffee & wine.
